Story

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PUT THE FULL NAME OF THE FRIEND YOU ARE SPONSORING The Great Bredon Hill challenge is a swim, cycle ride and run on Saturday May 12th 2012. We hope it will be a fun day with people being as competitive (or not!) as they like. We want laughter so fancy dress would be good.We want sunshine and we want people to raise LOADS of money! There are going to be lots of prizes during the hog/lamb roast. We are doing this for Henry.

Henry died 23rd Dec 2010 after a long battle with leukaemia. He received brilliant care at Guys hospital in London. Not only was he on a trial drug he had to undergo a full intensity bone marrow transplant.Things were tough for him because he had an aggressive type of leukaemia but many of the friends he made whilst in Guys are doing well and remain in remission. A few years ago Henry would probably have died in the week he was diagnosed as he was so ill at that time.New drugs are constantly being trialled and I believe in 10 years time leukaemia sufferes like Henry will live. One of the main problems is the bodies rejection of the new blood cells in the transfused blood which causes 'graft versus host disease' which eventually killed Henry. This is an area that is at the forefront of research.

All this research costs money and that money doesn't come from the government. As Henrys mother I am sure that you can understand my passion in raising money for leukaemia and lymphoma research. I want this horrible horrible disease to be cured. Years ago childhood leukaemia was invariably fatal yet now only a tiny percent of children with the disease die. I lost my most precious boy but don't want others to go through the same pain.

I know how tight things are for all of us in the UK right now but please have confidence that any money you feel able to donate will not be wasted.Remember to put your friends name as well as your own when donating as there are prizes on the day of the challenge for the participants who raise the most money. Please feel free to donate even if you dont know anyone taking part in the challenge!

PLEASE HELP US TO RAISE LOTS OF MONEY

Many many thanks

Rowan Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
