Last July my dear friends Alex and Miriam Bremer lost their sweet little girl, Lizzy, to Neuroblastoma - a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer.  Lizzy passed away just two days after her second birthday, but in her short life - particularly during her courageous six-month battle against this terrible disease - Lizzy created an inspiring legacy which has truly touched the hearts of all those who know the Bremer family personally...and many many more around the world.

It is in honor of Lizzy's immeasurable courage and soaring spirit that I have decided to participate in the 2014 Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100.  This single-day event follows much of the cycle route from the 2012 Olympics, and promises to be as challenging as it is rewarding.  

As I begin my training for the ride, I have set a goal to raise $2,000 for the Neuroblastoma Society in memory of Lizzy.

Worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes, and it kills more children than asthma, cystic fibrosis, diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined.  While Neuroblastoma is rare, it is still the most common form of cancer in infants and young children.  Many efforts are currently being made in clinical studies to find treatments to control the gene that causes Neuroblastoma.  Sadly, none have been successful.  

There is a way to change that:

AWARENESS = FUNDING = RESEARCH = A CURE
