Story

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page as we continue to fundraise in memory of our much loved Dan Dench.

SUDEP Action have set themselves the target of raising £165,000 by the end of March 2015 to fund a trial in a 'Wearable Apnoea Detection Device'. The exact causes of SUDEP (sudden unexpected death  in Epilepsy) are not always known, but apnoea (breathing stopping) is the most likely cause. In some cases the heart stops first. Either way if there were a monitor to give the alarm when someone stopped breathing then there may be a chance of saving that life through CPR. This device will be tested on 50 people with Epilepsy, it will cost £3,300 for one person to be tested.

We have pledged to raise at least £3,300 for one person to take part in this trial in Dans memory, whom we lost to SUDEP on 30th March 2013.

We realise this is quite a challenge as the money has to be raised by March 2015, although we are hopeful we can do it... but only with the help of our ever supportive family and friends.

We at present have a team of 6 family/friends who will be swimming across Weymouth Harbour on Xmas Day... Nicola Dench, Kimberley Dench, Laura Dench, Alan Townsend, Kerri Spaggs and Jason Pring.

If anyone else out there would like to join this brave team ...please contact us, it would be fantastic to get as many as possible on board or more like overboard!

We'd love it if you could donate to our fundraising, every penny will be gratefully received ....with much love The Dench Family and our swim team extras xxx
