Story

2014...a year to challenge myself!!

This year, I'm taking part in a number of physical challenges, some will be a first time for me while others will be competing against my previous PBs.

The challenges I have lined up so far..
1. Sunday 23rd March - Clapham common 10km race. This involves a 10km running race around Clapham common. I aim to beat my current PB of 54:46

2. Sunday 8th June - Blenheim triathlon. Joining my colleagues from Bunzl I aim to smash my time of 1 hour 37 mins from the sprint triathlon I did last July

3. Sunday 3rd August - Virgin Active london OLYMPIC distance triathlon. Yes, I have taken the next step, to double the distance from the sprint triathlon! The first Olympic distance triathlon triathlon, I aim to complete in under 3.5 hours

4. Sunday 10th August - Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100, a 100 mile cycle race following the route of the 2012 Olympics!

5. Sunday 14th September - Windsor Olympic Distance Triathlon

6. Sunday 28th September - Ealing Half Marathon, aim to complete in sub-2 hours

7. Sunday 19th October - Amsterdam Half Marathon

My main motivation behind doing this, in addition to being able to unleash my competitive side(!), is to raise money for Dr Kershaw's Hospice in memory of my grandad.

As some of you may remember, I took part in the london virgin active sprint distance triathlon in July 2013 where I raised a fantastic £2,099 for Dr Kershaw's Hospice including a £1,000 matching donation from my employers Bunzl :) I was so overwhelmed by the support that I received from everyone and really touched by the generosity of a lot of people.

I wanted to take this opportunity of taking part in such a challenge personally, to raise as much money as possible for a good cause. Dr Kershaw’s Hospice provided care to my Grandad, giving him a better quality of life in his last few months before he passed away in July 2012.

Dr Kershaw’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults with non-curable life-threatening illnesses in a peaceful and homely environment, so your kindness will help to make someone else’s life a lot more enjoyable.

So please, donate as little or as much as you can, every penny counts :o)
