Story
Thankyou for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in the Virgin Active London Triathlon on Saturday 27th July raising money for Dr Kershaw's Hospice in memory of my grandad. In December of 2011 he was diagnosed with terminal lung disease and sadly passed away in July 2012.
For those that don't know, the Virgin Active London Triathlon (Sprint Distance) involves swimming 750m, followed by 20km bike ride, and finishing with a 5km run!
I wanted to take this opportunity of taking part in such a challenge personally, to raise as much money as possible for a good cause. When my grandad became ill, Dr Kershaw's provided a place for him to visit once a week for a respite day, where they would do arts and crafts (one of my grandad's favourite past times). The artwork that he created was used to decorate the hospice, although he did get the opportunity to bring his creations home for all the family to see before they were unveiled at Dr Kershaw's.
My grandad really appreciated all the support and care that Dr Kershaw's Hospice gave him throughout his illness and gave him a better quality of life during his last few months. I appreciate that they were there for my grandad and wanted to do something to give back to them.
So please, donate as little or as much as you can, every penny counts :o)
