Story
Assalaamu alaikum!
A few weeks ago I attended a talk where they were fundraising for a charity called Little Hearts. They perform life-saving hearts surgeries on babies in poor countries.
In Bangladesh, where there were no trained doctors to perform the surgery a few years back, they opened a clinic and trained doctors with the money donated. And all the surgeons begin this beautiful work with Bismillah, so there is baraka* in each surgery iA.
I wasn't keen to raise my hands but then they said (and I'd like you to follow too): close your eyes and picture your beloved child running towards you when you come home (I thought of Aali- my niece). This child makes your forget your worries and brings you peace and joy. You're playing with this child when suddenly its limbs go weak so it collapses and its lips begins to turn blue. You rush to the hospital and the doctor tells you the child has a hole in its heart and if they don't operate the child could die. We have the luxury of the NHS. The poor mothers elsewhere don't.
I've pledged a small amount of £1500 which will pay for one surgery. Remember, in Islam, saving one life is as if we have saved the whole of mankind.
Zakah is accepted 😊 so I thought I'd get in there soon. I know we all love wateraid (guilty, I am) but this year please spare some extra money for some little hearts. Remember your own little ones and reach far and deep iA. Meaning ask others too if you can please.
Jazakallah khair for taking the time to read this lengthy message. May Allah bless us all with healthy hearts and beautiful souls- aa~meen
Wassalaam
Sharmin 🙃
