Thank You for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page ☺️

Every single day the Dyspraxia Foundation helps people like me.

I received a diagnosis of Dyspraxia at age 20. Growing up with dyspraxia is disorientating. But being diagnosed as an adult felt very confusing and shameful for me.

Here's why:

My dyspraxia specifically affects organisation & processing. But no matter how hard we have tried, some of us have felt "useless" because of our personal limitations.

It takes time and confidence to become a strong, organised person with all the techniques to trouble-shoot life's problems. Dyspraxia Foundation encourages us to thrive by building our confidence and recognising these strengths. We know we are not alone.

Many of us have despaired being told to "try harder" or "you'll grow out of this". We have felt stupid and worthless when other people made fun of us. But even when they were only teasing, what they didn't realise was that living as a dyspraxic person is frustrating, embarrassing and exhausting. Some of us are constantly losing things, forgetting things, letting everybody down. People with dyspraxia knows the best kept secret: we work so much harder than others just to stay in one piece! Dyspraxia Foundation raises awareness so that mental health is viewed without stigma.

We cannot be cured of poor processing abilities, but we have learnt to prepare carefully, slow down and be patient with ourselves. Dyspraxia is not only manageable but it can even make you more creative! You can still achieve your dreams!

We have learnt how to accept ourselves and find new ways round life's problems. We've mastered an incredible number of life-long skills that many take for granted. These hidden qualities are crucial in managing our physical and our mental health. Dyspraxia Foundation is an incredible source of support for dealing with this condition, it never fails to encourage and inspire!

Imagine yourself living in a crazy, chaotic and cruel mindframe 24/7. You feel like a child playing an adult's game, except you don't understand the language or even the rules. This was what life was like for me. My mental health collapsed and I began to self harm. Life for me and everybody around me began to feel as though it was falling apart.

Could you possibly even begin to imagine the relief people feel when they learn that this isn't their fault? Dyspraxia is a neurological condition and it can be managed. The Dyspraxia Foundation provides daily reassurance to families, friends and those with dyspraxia just when they need it most. Not only do they provide support, information and practical advice, but they are the most lovely people you will ever meet. Their helpline, otherwise known as a life-line, helps in every area of life!

I no longer hate myself or believe I am stupid. Neither do I turn on myself for making a mistake or coming across as clumsy or different. I have a hope and ambition for my future which previously felt beyond my reach. I have found that naming and owning my dyspraxia has helped me enormously. Doing this has changed the way I treat myself and helped me to accept myself, even if I am not perfect. I am patient with myself and give myself extra time to learn things which may be easier and quicker for others. Now I focus on my achievements and try not to compare them to others. Dyspraxia Foundation has helped to build my positive self-image. It is absolutely essential for young people and others suffering from Dyspraxia today!

The Dyspraxia Foundation helps people at their lowest, people who are shocked and paralysed by their diagnosis and don't know where to turn. 1 in 10 young people today suffer from mental health issues Having undiagnosed dyspraxia badly affected my self-esteem. We are so grateful that the Dyspraxia Foundation raises public awareness and works tirelessly to promote mental wellbeing. Receiving their help really is life changing and, for all we know, life saving?

On Saturday I will be trekking 10 miles across the parted seas of Morecambe Bay in order to raise urgently needed funds for the Dyspraxia Foundation. Many of you are right in thinking how unfortunate it will be that I won't be able to film this with my smart-phone. Because... Yes... That might mean losing yet another phone to water-damage. (#Dyspraxic jokes). I will be wading through sludge and water up to my knees and just about concentrating on remaining upright throughout the journey...

The fast tide means our route must be meticulously timed to prevent walkers getting cut off by water or finding themselves caught in the notorious quicksands! #excited!

Luckily for me, there will be an experienced guide to accompany us throughout the walk. As somebody who pretends not to be from the area when asked for directions in my home town, this will be an absolute thrill for me.

With your help we can guarantee the Dyspraxia Foundation continues its work, loud & strong! Let's keep the communication alive so that people don't have to suffer in silence any longer! People need the Dyspraxia Foundation! We cannot let this moment pass! Thank you and please give generously 😊

Your donation is going directly to Dyspraxia foundation (dyspraxiafoundation.org.uk) and will undoubtedly be turning lives around! Thank you SO MUCH for all your kind donations! Please feel free to continue donating in the months to come ...And wish me luck!
