The Nadia Miragliotta Butterfly Ball - 20th June 2015

Apologies, it's taken so long to put these funds on the page. We have been trying to find a way to claim gift aid on the final amount raised however this has not been possible.

Nevertheless, the amount we raised on the night far surpassed any expectations we had - £35,332.51!

We hope that you enjoyed the evening and want to thank you again for your continued support with our fundraising. We were over whelmed on the night to see so many people there to celebrate the life of our little girl Nadia and to raise much needed funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

We have agreed with Great Ormond Street Hospital that we will raise funds for Endoscopy Simulation Equipment. As you are aware we have already purchased a new scope for the Gastroenterology Department which allows for interventions to be carried out without the need for surgery. In order to get the best use from this specialised scope Great Ormond Street Hospital need to ensure that the clinical staff have the skill and competence to use this.

With this in mind, they would benefit from a simulation unit where clinicians can train how to use the scope effectively. Inserting a scope into a child's intestine requires the most careful handling and manipulation. Being able to make a diagnosis needs expert knowledge and these are the reasons we have agreed to fund this training piece of equipment. It will allow the clinicians to train in a safe, simulated way as they will practice on a virtual patient. They will be trained and assessed and will develop the necessary skill to use the scope we have purchased last year. In addition to this, the project could be expanded to clinical staff from other trusts and other specialities within GOSH could also use the equipment. It will be used daily!

The cost of this is £82,200 and although this seems like a huge task it is something we are keen to do.

Since starting the Nadia Miragliotta Brighter Future Fund we have collectively raised to date £94,992.30 (inc Gift Aid). We have spent approximately £49,000 of this on the scope which means we are starting this new venture with £46,000, so we are already half way there.

As always thank you for your love and support. We will keep you posted for future events.

Mike, Steph, Luca and Oliver xxxx

Firstly, just to let you all know..... the scope is purchased and is in place and making interventions a little more bearable for the children and their parents. We are sure Nadia is smiling about that ! 💕👼💕

Secondly, a huge thank you to all who have supported The Nadia Miragliotta Brighter Future Fund! 💝

There has been the Milton Keynes Marathon, the Dublin Mini Marathon, The London Triathlon, garden parties, the 10km Bupa London run, a 15km cycle in Verulamium Park St Albans, a London to Cambridge bike ride, sale of butterfly cakes in The Bread Bin, the virtual cycle by Private Jet Charter continues to Dubai, the Zumba Masterclass, and the continued generousity of our families, friends and work colleagues!!

To date the combined amount raised is £49,467.76 including gift aid !!

We are meeting with Great Ormond Street Hospital in December and will decide what we will fundraise for next.

We are hosting The Nadia Miragliotta Butterfly Ball on the 20th of June 2015 at Tewin Bury Farm, Welwyn, Herts. Further details to follow shortly!

Once again, thank you all so much for supporting us in keeping our beautiful daughter Nadia's memory alive xxxxx

April 2014

Unbelievably we have reached the £20,000 target and have raised our target again to £50,000. The piece of equipment we are aiming to fund costs £48,000 and we are confident that we will get to this target !

The amount of support, generosity and overwhelming kindness shown to us over the past 9 months has been staggering. We are blessed to have such wonderful family, friends and work colleagues.

Over the past few months Luca & Oliver have organised an art competition in their school. My work colleagues have been sponsored to dye their hair pink  (Nadia's favourite colour) and received sponsorship for this.

We completed a 10km sponsored walk around our local area and again were fully supported by our community. The sponsorship money raised was added and gave us the much needed boost to be brave and raise the target to what it is now.

Friends have been selling cakes, making candles, wearing no makeup for the day and lots more besides. People we have never met have given generously of their time and money for which we are truly grateful.  An office based cycle from London to Dubai is currently being undertaken by The Private Jet Charter team (follow their blog on http://privatejetcharterblog.tumblr.com).

A couple of our friends are running the marathon in Milton Keynes in May, ........ A group of us are doing the Dublin Mini Marathon in June......Mike is taking part in the Triathlon in August , something I thought I would never see!  I can imagine Nadia laughing at the prospect of her Daddy doing this for her. There are lots of plans in the pipeline so watch this space and please accept our heartfelt thanks for everything you are all doing in our little angel Nadia's memory.

With Love

17th December 2013

Firstly, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all our family, friends and those who have donated anonymously for the very generous donations made to Nadia's page.

We never imagined that we would come so close to reaching our target in such a short space of time!

We met with the fundraising team of Great Ormond Street Hospital last week and also with other bereaved parents who have been through similar experiences to mine and Mike's. We saw first hand how the money raised can really make a difference to the lives of the sick children who need the specialised facilities of Great Ormond Street Hospital. This has made us more determined to be part of that "making a difference".

Over the coming months and years we plan to continue to help this fantastic hospital in Nadia's memory. We will be raising our target incrementally and will keep you all posted on where that money is spent.

Once again, thank you to all who have contributed so much of their time, effort and money to helping this worthy cause.

Mike, Stephanie, Luca and Oliver

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the 2nd of July 2013, our beautiful little girl Nadia was taken suddenly and without warning. She was beautiful both inside and out and all who knew her loved her. She was a kind and caring little soul who loved helping others, so what better way to remember our daughter than by helping children in her memory.

The money donated in Nadia's memory will be used by Great Ormond Street Hospital to help children with bowel conditions. This will be used directly for them and to purchase equipment needed to aid their treatment.

Thank you for helping a very worthy cause.

Mike, Stephanie, Luca and Oliver
