Story
Please join us for this year's "Joe's Walk and BBQ Supper" on Sunday June 28, 2015, for a lovely stroll through the Chilterns followed by a barbeque meal.
This event is being held again at St Katharine's Retreat House, Parmoor, Frieth, Bucks RG9 6NN.
Meet for walk at 2.00pm. There are several great pubs en route which can be frequented. Drinks in garden (Pimms or squash) from 4.00pm. BBQ in garden (weather permitting) at 6.00pm. Please bring your own wine or soft drinks for the meal. Come for all or part of the day.
Joe's Walk and Supper is held in memory of our wonderful son, Joe Cronin, who left us very suddenly aged 11 in 2008.
You don't have to have known Joe to come. Just enjoy the day with friends and family and support a great cause at the same time. Bring a group of friends or just join us for a lovely afternoon in the local countryside. Dogs welcome on leads.
I do need exact numbers who are eating so please email me at shughes@webmd.net and let me know how many people will be staying for the BBQ. And please make a donation on this page.
Minimum suggested donation for those eating is 20 pounds.
All funds raised this year will again go to The Compassionate Friends (TCF), a wonderful organisation that supports parents who have lost a child. All bereaved parents themselves, members of TCF offer friendship, advice and hope to mothers and fathers who are facing the daunting task of trying to live on without their darling son or daughter.
They do a great job with very limited resources. I have found them a real lifeline in this incredibly difficult journey.
Joe was a fantastic boy. He was quiet, gentle, clever and sensitive, but also funny and loving, and a joy to be around. Our oldest son, he was adored by his mum and dad and his two younger brothers. Joe is still a massive part of our family and he is - and always will be - with us in everything we do.
