Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Visitors / Supporters / Donators: You may have noticed that the date of this event is showing as 2nd August 2015, but we are actually doing this event on the 31st July 2016.

As many of you may already know, we unexpectedly had to defer the event by 1 year due to Joe being involved in a serious cycling accident whilst training for the 2015 event.

We remain committed to complete this challenge as a Team (including Joe) and we would like to give him a special mention for his personal commitment to complete this challenge and raise vital funds for the Evelina Children’s Hospital even after his accident !

On July 31st 2016, Craig Caves, Joe Andrews and Stuart Collett will
form Team STA
to take on the challenge of completing the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 to
raise money for the Evelina London Children's Hospital in memory of Craig’s son Cameron and specifically in celebration of his third birthday, just a few days later!

Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside. With leg-testing climbs and a route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics, it's a truly spectacular event for all involved.

Team STA will head past Canary Wharf and through the City of London into the Surrey countryside where they will take on the biggest ascent on the route Leith Hill and the world-famous zig-zags of Box Hill, before heading back into London and making their way to finish the 100-mile route on The Mall.

Joe:

"After completing a number of cycling sportive’ up to 60 miles in length, the Ride London 100 was the next challenge for me".

"Unfortunately we were unable to participate in the 2015 event due to my accident but I remain committed to complete my personal objective and at the same time raise money for such a deserving cause. This ride will be a very special event for both reasons".

Stuart:

"Always being up for the challenge, the Ride London 100 was something that seems the next step to the many sportive’ that I have completed before.  As much as the 100 miles will be a challenge, it would be great to ride the same route as the professionals completed the day before and see quite how much of a challenge the famous Box Hill will be….."

"Having raised money for a number of different charities, Evelina London Children’s Hospital is one that continues to support families in difficult times, all your donation are really appreciated for this very worthy charity".

Craig:

"During his life Cameron fought for every heartbeat but he was only able to do so thanks to the amazing care he received from the Evelina London Children's Hospital, where he spent most of his life in their Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU); a wonderful unit that looked after us all as a family so well and holds a very special place in our hearts".

"We cannot ever repay the Evelina for what they have given us and the 9 months we had with Cameron because of them, however as charitable donations play an increasingly important role in their funding, we can continue to support the hospital and other children like Cameron by raising money to purchase life-saving equipment and to fund research".

Please help the Evelina London Children's Hospital to carry on with their amazing work in memory of Cameron...
