A Papworth research team has developed a new technique that has significantly increased the number of hearts available for transplantation; the development of which relies solely on charitable funds

Story

I was the third patient in Europe to receive a  'non beating' heart transplant.

This ground breaking surgery performed at Papworth is saving lives and reducing the heart transplant waiting list.

“Words cannot describe how thankful I am for this "Gift of Life". This time fourteen months ago was fearful for my future and that of my family.

“Since my transplant my life has been transformed. I am feeling better every day and am thankful to have made remarkable progress.

“My family and I are eternally grateful to our donor family. We are also immensely thankful to the research and commitment of the Papworth Transplant team who made having a DCD a lifesaving option for me. Needless to say I am looking forward to a second chance in life.
