October 2, 2016 - A message from Andrew's parents.

My family and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the amazing total raised. We are so grateful for your generosity and it encourages us more than we can say to know that there are so many people who care about Andrew and other missing loved ones. 

Missing People do so much to support families such as ours, to find those who are missing and prevent people who are struggling from going missing. They are, literally, a lifeline and every bit of support is genuinely appreciated.

July 10, 2016 is Andrew's 23rd birthday. 

As many of you will know, Andrew went missing at the age of 14 from Doncaster, South Yorkshire on September 14, 2007. Andrew's family will certainly never forget that date and we know that many of you will have Andrew and his family in your thoughts. As 'friends' of Andrew's family, we like to show them our constructive support at this time. Last year we ran a Thunderclap campaign in which a message about Andrew was sent out simultaneously to 1,784,577 people.

This year we thought we would do something different and a little more modest and that would also help others. The idea for this came from the Miles for Missing Children walks on Clapham Common on September 25, 2016 in which those who join there can walk or run 1, 3 or 10 miles to raise funds for Missing People. Thinking about this, we realised that there were many people who would perhaps like to join in at Clapham Common on that day but for many different reasons are unable to do so.

Some may have disabilities that make it unfeasible, some may feel they live too far away or some may just have other commitments. To help all of these feel part of Clapham Common that day, we thought let's set up a Just Giving 'There in Spirit' page.

For anyone who can't join in a walk or run at Clapham Common, we thought you might like to make a donation here to show your support, even if you can't actually run or walk there that day. Say, £1.00 in lieu of I mile, £3.00 in lieu of 3 miles or £10,00 in lieu of 10 miles (or whatever sum you would like to donate).

We feel also that some families might like to make their own informal walks near their homes. This is also being 'There in Spirit' and we are happy to accept donations on a similar basis raised in this way.
