Sending 'What is Humanism?' to every primary school in the UK, 29 June 2017
We want to send copies of the amazing new children's book 'What is Humanism?' by Michael Rosen and Annemarie Young to every primary school in the UK. But we need your help to do it!

Story

The British Humanist Association and the Humanist Society Scotland want to send the new children's book What is Humanism? How do you live a good life without a god? And Other Big Questions for Kids to every primary school in the UK. It's a fantastic book from the Children's Laureate Michael Rosen and Annemarie Young which we think every young person should have a chance to read. It's important that young people, whatever their background, have a decent grasp of what Humanism is and how many people today live their lives - ethically and fulfillingly, without religion.

There are a lot of primary schools in the UK, but together we can make sure that every single one of them gets a copy. But that's only if you can give generously today! Please, read on and give what you can to this important appeal.

Last year the British Humanist Association was able to send copies of a fantastic personal memoir called The Young Atheist's Handbook to all secondary schools across the UK. It was all thanks to generous donors like you on JustGiving. This initiative was a huge success and it meant that hundreds of thousands of young people can now read this book in libraries and explore their own ideas about life and the big questions, regardless of their background. Now the BHA and HSS need your help to extend that same opportunity to younger children through this brand new initiative.

What is Humanism? is full of familiar faces, with contributions from humanists like Stephen Fry, Philip Pullman, Jim Al-Khalili, Natalie Haynes, and Shappi Khorsandi, who explain their own approaches to life, based on empathy and without gods.

Primary school libraries and RE classrooms could do with more books like this one. Young people of all ages should have access to wonderful books like this and make up their own minds about what they believe. That's why I'm asking you to please make a gift (including gift aid if you can!) to raise £50,000 to get this book into every primary school in the UK. Please, can you donate today?

P.S. If we're lucky enough to raise any money in excess of the £50,000 we need to get every primary school in the UK, that'll go straight into related education work providing teachers with resources so young people can make up their own minds about what they believe. So do give generously if you can - nothing will go to waste!

Please note as this is a joint fundraising effort by BHA and HSS, donor data provided by JustGiving will be shared with these two charities, unless you chose to donate anonymously. You can contact either charity directly to unsubscribe from future communications if you wish
