Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

June 19th-21st 2014 - 140 miles and 140 locks to navigate :)

As these things generally begin, I was having a beer with a good pal of mine over the summer when he told me about a team that were planning to Kayak from Solihull to London, in order to raise money for GetAhead. He asked me if Microsoft would provide some sponsorship - funding one of the boats or support crew. I said "no - but they would match fund me if I was doing it"...........And there the deal was done!

GetAhead are a charity that raises funds to directly help improve the quality of life for people who suffer from head and neck diseases. With 3 of the people involved in the event having had 1st hand experience, I am keen to help raise much needed funds to support vital research in to Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) and Medullary Thyroid Cancer (MTC).

Given that I have never Kayaked more than about 10 miles, and one of the other boats has an ex British Paralympian, I really have some serious training to do!

Any contribute would help - as you know Microsoft Match fund and with Gift Aid at Higher Rate tax a £5 donation is worth £16.67!
