Story
We did it! This was a fantastic experience, much harder than we thought
it would be, but we finished in one piece.
Amazing scenery throughout Kent, Belgium & Netherlands coastline.
Cycling through the dams in Netherlands was incredible and we all felt the satisfaction and emotion when crossing the last park in Amsterdam to reach our final destination.
We’ve had sore knees, quite a few falls, numbness in the toes and fingers.
We’ve consumed litres and litres of water and eaten an imaginable amount of nuts, gummy bears, dry fruits and flapjacks, with a couple of boiled eggsthrown in.
Dry heat was used a lot to calm a few injuries as well as bags of ice on every break.
Not to mention the array of lycra worn by everyone during
the cycle.
But the best was the comradery, everyone helping each other out to
ensure no-one was left behind and keeping up the spirits when we thought we couldn’t pedal one more mile.
We did all of this to raise money for the British Legion.
Thank you all for your donations so far, we are very proud to have
completed this challenge.
This was our challenge
giffgaff is organising a charity bike ride from Marble Arch in London to Amsterdam, starting on Wednesday 4th May and arriving in Amsterdam on Saturday 7th May via various picturesque locations along the way (and Dover!). We are going to have a tremendous amount of fun, and probably a few 'moments' along the way!! This is all to raise money for the British Legion.
The 'legs':
- Day 1 - 87 miles - we hear this is the hardest ride with an ascent of 4857ft
- Day 2 - 69 miles - leaving Calais for our 'shortest' ride of the 4 days
- Day 3 - 86 miles - it's all flat from Bruges onwards they say...
- Day 4 - 88 miles - the longest ride to take us to our destination Amsterdam!
This justgiving page is a centralised hub for giffgaffer's to help the riders hit their target :)
