Story
Give up a coffee this Friday!
By now most people will have seen the pictures or read the story released yesterday about Aylan Kurdi a 3 year old victim of the refugee crisis who drowned alongside his 5 year old brother Galip and 35 year old mother Rehan.
I am sure like many others who read the story my heart sank while reading it thinking of how terrified these two little boys must have been and how they were so badly failed by those who could make a difference. All I wanted to do was go home and give my own little boy a hug.
For so long I have read the news articles, watched the reports and thought that surely there is something that can be done to end the crises and help these people but then I carry on with my day and forget about it until the next time. We have become so accustomed to seeing stories like this that we no longer take notice.
Today I decided I wanted to do something to help but unable to help directly I looked for other ways to try and help those who are working with the victims of this crisis.
So I set up this Just Giving page to see if I could raise money to try and make a little difference. Coming into the weekend we all like to indulge in a beer, coffee or lunch out to relax, so I am asking people to skip one these and give the price of a coffee or whatever you can afford to help raise funds.
Any money raised will be donated to UNICEF I will post an update Sunday of the donation
Please share with your family, friends and colleagues and let’s try make a small difference this Friday
Thank you for your donation.
