Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Last year my sister-in-law, Vicki 57, suffered two major strokes. This has changed her life immeasurably, from a fast-paced London-based, active, career-orientated, fun-loving, sociable life, to an existence in the country of sleep, medication, struggle, confusion and, to a degree, reliance on others. Until finding Different Strokes she was fearful of what the future held but they have given her the self-belief that she can move forward and create a new life for herself, which is one that can be fulfilling and worthwhile. Different Strokes support every aspect of the recovery process and she has made many strong friendships through them and without their support, the last year and the months to come would have been a far darker place.
There are 152,000 strokes in the UK each year. At least 1 in 4 strokes happen to someone of working age or younger.
So Colman and I decided to run the Oxford Half Marathon and raise cash for this invaluable charity. Please do what you can to help our efforts and an organisation that clearly helps others in the process of rehabilitation and education. This will make them, us and Vicki extremely grateful!
