Story
On the 12th June I will be running the St Albans Half Marathon to raise money for Barnsley Hospice where my Father stayed at the end of his 18 month battle with cancer.
When we were visiting Dad in the Hospice we were at a very sad period in our lives. But we always considered ourselves fortunate that such a fantastic hospice was nearby to allow my Dad to spend his last days in comfort and dignity with his family around him. The Staff there are superstars, their warmth and humour helped bring a smiles to our faces in the darkest of times.
My Dad, often known locally as 'Farmer Jim', was never much of a runner. He did however, enjoy sitting down a brew and seeing what ridiculous outfits he could spot people wearing when the London Marathon was on TV. Because of this; I have decided to run the 13miles around St Albans dressed as a cow - complete with udders, tail and daft hat.
It would be amazing if any of you can help me to raise some money for Barnsley Hospice. Its a fantastic cause and I would like to help ensure it continues to provide such excellent care to people in similar situations in the future.
Many Thanks
