Story
Each year, HCPT takes thousands of children with disabilities or special needs on a pilgrimage holiday to Lourdes in France. The children travel in small family-style groups with experienced volunteer helpers and nurses. We are part of HCPT's Group 23. This is a Glasgow/Edinburgh based group made up of 14 volunteer helpers, and this year we are taking 10 children in Easter to Lourdes for a week and giving them a holiday of a lifetime. The children, aged 8 to 18, have a wide range of physical or mental disabilities, or have been neglected physically or emotionally, or may even be carers themselves.
As a group we fund raise to cover the cost of a child's fare, which is around £700 per child. On top of this we aim to raise enough money to allow us to take the children on trips to the beach, animal park or even on a trip to Gavarnie in the mid-Pyrenees. As a group we have had many fundraising events throughout the year, but we need help with the final push towards our target!
- £20 pays for a trip to the beach or the Pyrenees.
- £10 pays for a trip to the Zoo/Animal Park.
- Any amount of money could go towards making this the holiday of a lifetime for these children!
Please help us reach our target and give some children the experience of a lifetime.
