Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As many of your know our little boy Ciarán McGovern was born at only 25 weeks on 5 October 2014. Weighing in at 630g (1lb 6oz) he faced an uphill battle. Too early for his little lungs to manage on their own he was ventilated for over 7 weeks, following which he was on Cpap and low flow oxygen for a further 11 weeks when he was finally able to breath on his own. He had over 11 blood transfusions and also had to undergo heart surgery when he was four weeks old, but our little man battled through.

The wonderful staff in Holles Street took great care of our little man for 141 long days and nights he finally came home! Therefore we have decided to mark Ciaran's second birthday by running the Lisbon Half Marathon to raise vital funds for the hospital to help to purchase a new incubator to help other little babies in the same position as our little man once was.

Thank you in advance for any donation!

Regards

Elaine, Paul and Rachael
