Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving Page. All money raised will be by AFO, for the Hout Bay Music Project Trust. See the following video summarising our time spent with the Hout Bay Music Project Trust - https://youtu.be/BDKLlu_a9_s.
Having recently visited South Africa on one of the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra's most successful tours yet, we are going to be organising a sponsored cycle/walk to help raise funds for the Hout Bay Music Project. We were delighted to be able to spend a day with the young people of the project where we shared with them some of our Scottish music and learned some of their own South African music - not to mention a highly competitive football match before the rehearsal began.
The Hout Bay Music Project, based in the township of Hout Bay just outside of Cape Town, was founded in 2003 and aims to provide children from historically disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to learn a musical instrument. Since it's humble beginnings, the project has given hundreds of children the chance to play music and continues to grow.
The project is constantly in need of funding to continue providing tuition and to ensure the upkeep of musical instruments. Hopefully, through some fundraising back home in Scotland, we will be able to help the group and ensure their continued support for the young people of Hout Bay.
The event that we are organising will be taking place along the Route 7 cycle path between Glasgow and Ayr and will include several different distances starting from Glasgow, Lochwinnoch, Kilwinning and Troon.
You can donate as little as £2 and this can go a long way to helping us reach our target. We would be grateful for any donations you could make.
