Assalaam u Alaikum/Peace be upon you
Please continue reading this meesage. Though it may seem long the message is clear
The crisis in Syria is the biggest humanitarian catastrophe of the 21st century. The conflict is now in its fourth year and the United Nations estimates that at least 100,000 people have died and the death toll continues to rise daily.
Since the violence erupted in 2011, the migration of refugees to neighbouring countries has escalated. The United Nations refugee agency UNHCR said the number of people to have fled Syria had rocketed from 230,000 to more than 2 million in the year to September 2013, and if the trend continues that number will have risen to 3 million by the end of 2013.
More than 515,000 are in Jordan while the figure in Lebanon has exceeded 700,000. Turkey has opened its borders to 460,000, Iraq to nearly 170,000 and Egypt to 110,000. Inside Syria itself, the numbers who are suffering also continues to grow, with a quarter of the country's 23 million population in need of humanitarian assistance.
With the crisis showing no signs of abating and the numbers left homeless and seeking help continuing to increase, there is an everlasting cry for help from the Syrians. Our aim is to raise enough funds and provide the most basic of necessities such as food supplies, non-food provisions, medicines and healthcare.
The Hazrat Sultan Bahu Trust has therefore teamed up with Islamic Help to raise awareness for this cause. Your help is urgently needed to assist those who have fallen victim to the devastation in Syria. Please see below for price handles and donate what you can no matter how little.
