iliv to Trek - National 3 Peaks Challenge, 10 June 2017

Story

Between 10th and 11th of June a team of over 20 from SMD are taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge with the target to complete the whole event in under 24 hours!

The iLiv to Trek Challenge has become an annual event for SMD and the 3 Peaks follows the 50 mile Yorkshire Peak “double marathon” and last year’s 30 Peak Lake District endurance event (which we won incidentally!).  Each year we’ve enlisted more participants and are delighted so many colleagues have engaged to support our chosen charities.

3 Peaks isn’t 30 but the project to take so many people of vastly varying fitness levels safely up and down the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, in such a tight time frame is really ambitious.  Completing one mountain is sufficient for most but to put 3 back to back with limited sleep and very limited mountaineering experience will be very challenging.

Why are we doing it?  To help the hugely worthwhile charity Trinity Hospice, who provide palliative and  end of life care to adults and children from Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.  Families connected to us SMD have experienced first-hand their wonderful support and work.

Their team name is iLiv to Trek!

Thank you for your support.

From everyone at SMD

About the charity

Trinity Hospice and Palliative Care Services and Brian House Children's Hospice provides specialist palliative care to the adults and children of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre and much needed support for their families. Our services are available free of charge, however the Hospice only received limited government funding and therefore approximately £4m needs to be raised each year from the community. Your support is greatly appreciated.
