Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page. I’d really appreciate it if you would spend a couple of minutes reading about the challenge I aim to undertake as well as the charity I hope we can all support - One In A Million.
On 11 June I will begin a ten day attempt to cycle from Lands’
End to John O’Groats (LEJOG), covering about 100 miles each day.
As a middle-aged man with no more than an average level of
fitness and a passing interest in occasional cycling holidays, it was decided that the LEJOG challenge would be ideal (those of you who know Mrs H will also know who made that decision…) What could possibly go wrong!
I’d like us to raise as much as possible for a local charity. Every week One In A Million works with over 1000 disadvantaged children and young people in Bradford, providing a programme of activities centred on Sport, Art and Enterprise. The purpose is to break that cycle of deprivation which grips so many young lives, by offering encouragement and support and by celebrating each individual - letting them know that they are ‘one in a million’.
Typically, any one of the community based projects - including Indoor Athletics, Creative Arts, ICT, and Positive Lifestyle - costs just £15 for one young person to attend each week. That’s about £780 per year. Or £5 an hour.
I would be hugely grateful if you would sponsor my LEJOG
attempt for just £5. Between us, I’m sure we can raise enough to provide some (…can we aim for three…?) of Bradford’s 19,000 disadvantaged young people with the help and support they
need to escape their deprivation and build for themselves a great and positive life.
Thank you so much for your support
Ian
