Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In June 2011 we, the Douglas, Macdonald and Wickes families tragically lost Andy, our beloved and loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin.
Although his life was cut so short at the age of 29 Andy achieved his twin ambitions of becoming a passionate and highly skilled chef and also of travelling across the world climbing some of its highest mountains in the process, including Chimboraza, the highest summit in Equador. While travelling Andy spent time in Nepal where, as well as treking to both Everest and Annapurna base camps, he was deeply affected by the generous and friendly nature of the people he met who often themselves had so little. In particular he was moved by the poverty in which so many of the Nepalese children lived. Andy planned to travel again and his priority was to return to Nepal.
Andy’s family have set up this page so that all who would like to can honour Andy’s memory by supporting a charity that does so much for disabled Nepalese children and which we know Andy would have chosen to support. This charity is the Nepali Children’s Trust. There's more information and a video about NCT here: http://www.nepalichildrenstrust.com so do have a look and see their amazing achievements.
