Story
In June my good friend M was diagnosed wih cancer. She had to give up alcohol before chemo began, I decided to join her on her journey by abstaining for the duration of her treatment. All money saved to go to her chosen charity - at 1/2 a bottle of wine per day (sad but true) this is a tidy sum for 6 weeks....about £200!
M and my husband agreed to match this amount so we got of to a great start. Then another 3 weeks chemo were required...........Yikes!!!!! but a chance to raise even more money...............
M chose her local hospital and the new cancer ward to be built at Stratford - all donations to go to the chemo wards special chairs - NHS chairs are basic (click on photos below).
The special chairs allow sick patients to relax put their feet up and sleep if necessary - treatment which can take as much as 10 hours.
The chairs are not cheap - about £800 each!
Every pound helps - perhaps you could donate the price of a drink or even a booze free evening. Wow. Think how much good this will do you, boost the coffers, M's morale and stiffen my resolve..........Win. Win. Win!
UPDATE:
1.Went to visit M whilst she was undergoing treatment - what a difference those chairs make.
2.The chemo has done its work. Fantastic.
3.The next phase begins - M is to have an op in early Sept and so my journey with her ends.
We've both achieved our targets and I think helped each other along the way.
Thank you M and Good Luck for the future - I shall drink a toast to you tonight!
4. We've managed to raise a fantastic amount of money - almost enough for 2 chairs so hoping that the last few doantions will achieve this target.
