Story
As featured on Clare Balding's Radio 4 "Rambllings" programme (to be broadcast in September) I am delighted to be raising money for the Leighton Buzzard Holiday Club as part of my Gratitude Walk. Although affiliated to the Royal Mencap Society they receive no direct funding from them and are a totally voluntary society which has been in existence for over 40 years. They are reliant for their existence on funding from donations and grants from organisations and individuals. The scheme runs for three weeks during the school holidays and provides an action-packed club for approximately 35 children. They have the opportunity to share fun activities with others, whilst giving a well-deserved break for their parents.
The scheme is reliant on the goodwill and energy of local sixth form students building relationships with the children and building a successful atmosphere. The activities on offer include music, drama and dance to encourage expression and creative ability; swimming, sailing, rock climbing, ice skating and skiing for the more adventurous.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please feel free to donate what you can via this page or alternatively contact me for a sponsorship form at jackiemcall@hotmail.co.uk
