The Original Just Giving Message set up for my 10K Run:
My name is Laura, I’m 21 years old. When I moved to Lincolnshire many moons ago, I found the greatest gift off all. There are not many people in this world, who can make such a huge impact on those they come across, not many who can be so fondly admired. When I met Jack, I knew that my life would change forever and that it most certainly did. I found a friendship that grew to be so much more, my best friend, smile, laughter, purpose and reason.
We celebrated our 6th year of being together in York, January 12. This year rather than making a New Year resolution; I made a list of all the things I wanted to achieve before 2014, a list of plans to fill the year, a list of achievements and things Jack and I were going to do. One of my personal goals was ‘Run 10k for charity’, which I will tell you Jack thought was hilarious! Anyone who knows me will know that exercise and fitness is generally not in my vocabulary!
Nevertheless the list was written, a long one at that, with so many plans and goals to look forward to.
Sadly, on the 3 of February 2013 Jack was tragically taken following a road traffic accident on his way home, meters from our front door. I lost a big part of me that day.
I’ve now made it my entire aim, to continue with the plans we had, that list will be finished before the year is out. One of the greatest things Jack taught me was to live each day to its full potential. He was a man of his word and always, no matter how difficult, achieved the things he set out to do. He gave his all, to all that mattered and that is what I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
If Jack had chance that night, the Air Ambulance would have been it. I was so shocked to discover that the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance runs and relies on charitable donations and fundraising. To me, I don’t think you can put a price on what they do.
I have chosen to take on the challenge of running the 10k Run for all, in York on the 4 of August 2013 in memory of Jack. York is a place Jack and I have shared irreplaceable memories that I will never forget. The sponsorship raised will be going to The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. I have a lot of work to do as at the minute, I can barely run a few metres!
As an additional challenge (as part of my list) my auntie Jayne and I will be going to Scotland in September to climb the uk's biggest mountain.
Any support you wish to give will be greatly appreciated. I’ve chosen £2100 for the target as I hope to raise £100 for every year of Jack’s life. I’d love for you to join me on this journey; you can follow my list / run progress on the blog below.
