Story
I did my first marathon nearly four years ago raising money in return for the place. The generosity of friends, family, colleagues and even the odd stranger was overwhelming, smashing the required target. Since then I have run a further five marathons, choosing not to ask for donations.
In 2014, close friends Ian and Marie lost their nine year old son Oscar to Medulloblastoma (a brain tumour) in May 2014. From that tragedy OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity was formed, funding critical research into paediatric brain tumours.
Over the last 18 months, I have seen friends and family challenging themselves to raise money for the charity – a group of friends and Pandy ran their first marathon in October, Fin walked the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and over a hundred people got together to run the Yorkshire Marathon relay. In March, a huge number of people, including myself, will do the 10k Major Series mud race hoping to be the largest team participating.
But now I need to step up and do a new challenge – something that challenges myself and gives me the opportunity to hassle you all for donations.
And this new challenge will take place May 28th around 6.30am from Richmond Park – it’s the London to Brighton 100km Ultra-marathon. In old money, this is two marathons plus another ten miles.
I would be enormously grateful if you could support me in this challenge by donating money to OSCAR's PBTC.
If I can get beyond £1,500 then that would be fantastic.
