Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My wife Pauline and mum to Kirstin, Lauren and Callum sadly passed away last year after fighting stomach cancer over a short period. She was just 40 years old. Despite her illness Pauline amazingly managed to run the 5k at last year's Balmoral races. We were all so proud of that achievement and her fighting qualities generally during her illness.

In her memory me and the girls will be running at this year's event on 28th April in the 10k, 2.5k and 1.5k races. As part of that we want to raise money for GASTROCAN (Grampian Gastro-oesphageal Cancer Research Fund) - a charity based in the North East of Scotland and managed by the University of Aberdeen Development Trust - which aims to raise much needed funds for research into stomach-related cancers. More information can be found at www.gastrocan.org.uk. GASTROCAN has been appointed as one of Run Balmoral's chosen charities this year as a kind gesture towards Pauline and ourselves and to promote its valuable work. GASTROCAN'S originator, Dr Russell Petty, treated Pauline during her illness and provided so much quality support to us all in that time.
