Story
I am lucky to be an ESL teacher based in Monaco and have fabulous students. In 2013, I was invited to teach in a community school in Shiyala village based one hour from Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, by the Mothers of Africa.
I can not find the words to compare the differences between the two worlds of Monaco and Shiyala. However, the uniting factor is the desire of all the students to learn English and to learn to READ in English.I am leaving for Shiyala in March 2015 to help start a READING community in the village. This involves helping the volunteer teachers to teach both children and adults. In order for this to happen the teachers need more BOOKS for the children and adult literacy classes.
So, if you loved being READ to by a parent or you love READING to your child please donate to this project. All the money will go to the buying of books since all volunteers in the MoA charity give their time for free and pay for their own expenses: 0% administration costs.
