Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those of you that don't know - mr brother passed away in December 2011 of an unexpected brain aneurism that erupted and died almost instantly at the young age of only 24. To this day we still don't know what caused it and perhaps never will.
Since losing Jay I have been reflecting and as a consequence feel that I would like to do something challenging and rewarding that can in some way enable something positive to occur from such an awful tragedy. I have carried out substantial research into suitable charities that support the research into brain injury, as well as the care provided for people whose lives are affected by brain injury. Supporting such a charity is important to me as I believe that in doing so families will not have to go through the same ordeal as we all have in losing a loved one. I hope that the research will lead to health care professional being able to detect brain injuries and disorders sooner and in turn enable them to provide fast and effective health care.
I have found a charitable organisation called Headway that offers fantastic support to families living with and dealing with brain injury, as well as the research into this; therefore I have decided to do fundraising for them. I wish to raise enough funds which will allow me to cycle 466km from London to Paris. In order to achieve this I need to raise £1450 by July 2014. Half of the funds raised will pay for the trip (flights, accommodation, food and medical) and the other half will go towards the charity itself. Any more than the £1450 raised will also be donated straight to the charity.
I am therefore asking you to kindly donate towards the funds in a bid to reach my target for Headway; but most importantly to help achieve something positive in memory of my beautiful brother Jay.
I hope that this is not asking too much, but one of ‘Jay’s Rules’ was to live everyday like it’s your last and to keep moving forward, and I believe this does exactly that. Your help would be so greatly appreciated by me but above all by the peoples’ lives that you will make a positive change to by making a donation. I am sure that Jay too would be proud to know that you are a part of this!
