Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, showing your support for what i plan to do and hopefully making a little donation to help me towards my target.

Ten years ago on 6/8/06 my beautiful sister Vicky passed away aged 35, after 20 years suffering from renal failure. Throughout those years she was a recipient of donor kidneys and also used dialysis for long periods when her kidneys had failed again.

We all spent many hours in the hospital with her over the years and helped her to care for herself and her children when having to commute for dialysis three times a week for 4 hours each time. Receiving dialysis meant that it was hard for Vicky & her children to be a normal family and to do normal family things like holidays.

SCKPA gave Vicky and her children the chance to have a holiday as they had destinations that had dialysis machines and this made some precious memories that they wouldn't otherwise of had.

SCKPA offer far more than access to holiday destinations, their objectives are -

  • To give financial support to kidney patients, where necessary and always with complete confidentiality.
  • To purchase equipment for the benefit and/or treatment of kidney patients.
  • To obtain, collect, receive and accept moneys and funds through donations, legacies, grants, gifts of any description, including property, and through any other lawful means to fund the furtherance of the objects of the Association.
  • To procure and to disseminate information concerning kidney diseases and treatments.
  • To arrange public meetings, lectures and/or exhibitions.
  • To support the activities of the National Kidney Federation and other fund raising organisations whose activities are considered by us to be in the interests of kidney patients in the care of the Oxford Renal and Transplant Units.
  • The Association shall draw members from the area served by the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital N.H.S. trust and its successors (Oxon., Northants., Bucks., Berks. and parts of Wilts. and Glos.) It shall also include those areas where patients from fringe counties have been recommended to attend the Churchill Hospital by medical advisors.
  • To do all such other lawful things as are necessary for the achievement of the Objects.

Anything that you can donate will be of great help to this very worthy, local charity.
I want to offer this small thank you for the little bit of happiness they helped to create for my sister and her 3 children - Stacey, Aaron & Robert.
