Story
At the end of the month I'll be running my first Tough Mudder (basically it's a 12 mile obstacle course though mud, for those who don't know). Currently I'm so unfit that I struggle to run 1 mile without having an asthma attack or keeling over with a stitch, so Tough Mudder will be quite a big challenge. It also it gives me a good excuse to get fit and raise money for a very good cause.
I'm running on behalf of The Survivors Trust (more specifically Trust House Reading); a national umbrella agency for over 135 specialist rape, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse support organisations throughout the UK and Ireland. Sexual abuse is a very delicate subject that many people are often too uncomfortable to face. Organisations such as The Survivors Trust give victims of sexual abuse free support and offer wellbeing services which can be life changing. Unfortunately, due to the sensitive nature of the subject, organisations such as this can often be overlooked and lack the publicity that they deserve.
