I have a muscle wasting condition and each week I am supported by the Neuromuscular Centre. I would like to do what I can to assist this brilliant place..  

On 4th October 2015 I am going to plunge a mile down a mountain in Snowdonia at speeds approaching 100mph on Velocity – the longest zip wire in the Europe and the fastest in the World. I can currently walk a very short way with sticks and splints, but also use a wheelchair, so the real challenge of this adventure is for Daisy and her strong team with the aid of a landrover to get me to the top of the mountain. My job is simple, although when I decided to do this I didn't realise quite how high or fast it is. 

Each week -- people with all forms of muscular dystrophy and MD like conditions,(there are many) benefit from the specialist skills available at the Neuromuscular Centre.  It is a really warm, open and friendly environment and a lifeline for all who can visit, some come from very long distances, even if they can only make it occasionally.  I particularly enjoy the hydrotherapy, but there is also physiotherapy, practical and emotional support. It costs £875,000 a year to run the centre, however an impressive feature is that much of its income is generated from businesses employing people with MD. They also provide training and I am loving doing a graphic design course with them.  

All are rare conditions and so their expertise also benefits many other health professionals who may see some of these conditions once in their career.  There is enormous demand and the centre is always really busy. They need support to maintain as well as develop their services.
