Story
The recent major earthquakes in Nepal have claimed more than 8,000 lives and over 8 million people are thought to have been affected.
Nepal is one of the poorest and most mountainous countries in the World. Its people display great warmth and friendship, providing a genuine open-armed welcome and help to visitors from all around the globe.
Now, in their time of great need, please help us to help them.
We are a group of 9 colleagues and friends who have decided to abseil down the Avon Gorge in Bristol on Saturday 1st August 2015 to help to raise funds for this appeal. If you would like to sponsor us, you can donate using this page.
Aid is reaching survivors but more help is still needed in both the short and long-term. Our chosen charity, International Disaster Volunteers (IDV) are ready to provide this help and, having already launched their response, are appealing for donations.
IDV is a volunteer-led disaster charity. Here's a link to their website:

They are dedicated to providing meaningful and sustainable assistance to disaster affected and at-risk communities around the world. Among other things, they place emphasis on reducing future vulnerability and increasing resilience. Please see the following link to their approach to disaster recovery:

IDV have been working in remote hard-to-reach areas and under-served locations, working with local partners and communities to continue meeting immediate and medium term needs and, very importantly, assessing how IDV could support the long-term, sustainable recovery of earthquake affected communities.
Thank you so much for your generous support.
