EVAN WOLF PAGE
Here's some of the background that led to us holding Evanfest.
In November 2012 myself and my friends lost a dear friend who had BIPOLAR DISORDER. It was completely unexpected. I had known him for over 20 years and he was only 39 when he died.
A few of us put on a singers night to help raise money for one of his best friends to come down from Shetland for his funeral. We raised a lot more than we expected to, so gave the remaining money to Evans mum to be put towards his funeral (or whatever she chose to do with it).
About a month before his death, Evan phoned me and asked me to put on a gig to raise awareness for Bipolar Disorder as he had come to all of my previous gigs for various charities over the years and knew I would support him as much as he had supported me over the years. I agreed and we were all set to start making arrangements. Then came the news of his death, which was devastating.
After Evans funeral, myself, Peter Knight and Lynda Lamb and a few of his other friends decided to go ahead with the gig but decided to take it to a bigger venue and advertise. So we approached Andy Mac at the Ship and Giggles in Preston and he agreed we could hold it there. The event was a huge success, with 65 artists performing over two stages in twelve hours. We decided to hold another this year. There will be a world record attempt by Frank Willis. He currently holds the record for breaking the most concrete slabs with his hand. Here's the link

One of the people who organises the event with me and provides all the sound/stage equiptment and instruments wrote a song for Evan, it is on itunes and all proceeds go to bipolaruk. He, along with other local musicians will be playing a live version of the song on the day. Here is the link

Last year we sent you a cheque for £1000.00, this year we are hoping to raise a lot more as the event will be much bigger.
Many thanks.
Kate Jones.
