Story
Around 4pm on the 6th November Zambia time a localised storm hit the area and opened up one of the classrooms like a tin of sardines. Thankfully no one was in the classroom at the time and no-one was hurt. Unfortunately it could not have happened at a worse time. On Monday the Grade 9 kids started their Certificate of Junior Secondary Education exams and this was the classroom they were using. The results of the Grade 9 exams decide whether a child gets selected for secondary for secondary school education and has a profound effect on their future. Now the exams have been delayed whilst another classroom has to be officially approved by the Education Board. In the meantime there is a classroom with no roof unless Project Luangwa steps in to do something about it. With the approaching rainy season and the need for examination classrooms as well as classrooms for teaching we haven’t waited to find the funds - we’ve already sent in our building team. But we will have to find the money to pay for these repairs from somewhere. Repairs will cost in the region of $800 for the roof but we’ll also need to repaint the classrooms due to water damage.
