Story

Hi and thanks for viewing our page!

Those of you that know me will know that I had occasion to understand first hand the valuable work that the Air Ambulances do across the UK.

These services are funded purely by donations by people just like you and me and typically costs in the area of 12,500 per day to keep one Helicopter flying.

Therefore 4  years ago I got together with a group of friends and took on the challenge of cycling around all the football league grounds in Yorkshire in four days.We called at each club on the way and received gifts and memorabilia that we auctioned for the charity.

We had a great time although tough and raised close to £10k

So decided to do it all again the following  year and called the event  "The Heritage Tour" travelling around world-renowned landmarks in Yorkshire.

We start on September 17 from the south side of the Humber Bridge, travelling to Whitby, Wendsleydale, the Cow & Calf rocks in Ilkley, York Minster and finished in Pocklington some 250 miles later on 20th September. This was a real tough ride and the weather didnt help us! but again we finished and pushed our fundraising total over the £15k mark for the two years!!

So last year i was looking for something very different to do and think i found it!?

We had 16 cyclists travelling to Germany on 24th July to compete in the 24hr non stop challenge around the infomous Nurburgring race circuit.

In teams of 4 we competed with over 6000 other cyclists.

If i thought the hills in Yorkshire were tough they were nothing compared to the so called "Green Hell". One hill that took me about 30 mins to climb with sections of 18% gradient.  Having said all that the downhills were scary with one of our team clocking 66MPH! on a push bike!!

So here we are again in 2016 and taking on crazy rides for a "slightly" overweight maybe middle aged bloke and his friends.

On Sunday 4th September we are taking part in the Selby 3 swans cycling sportive. 106miles in one day! Currently the furthest i have ridden is 76 miles in one day and i can still remember the pain!

We know that everyone is under huge financial pressure these days and we all get nagged to give to various causes, but please help us all in achieving our goal, as you never know when you may need the services of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

You can donate to us in several ways:-
