As many of you are aware my life was turned upside down on 26th April 2012 when 45 minutes after my C-section i was told that my gorgeous baby boy Lucus had Down Syndrome, looking at him in hospital whilst holding him so tightly i cried and cried i knew i loved him but was so scared and unsure of the future as i didnt know anything about Down Syndrome and i certainly had never met anyone who had it. i worried that people would think it was me and that i caused it somehow or that i deserved it!
Two weeks later my Health visitor told me she had to refer my other son Alexander as she had noticed things werent right at his two year check whilst i was heavily pregnant but she waited for me to have my baby so as not to worry me during my pregnancy, a few weeks later we were told that he'd had a stroke in my womb and a mri scan confirmed this and he was diagnosed with right side Hemi/Cerebral Palsy so now life was very different i cried alot ..... Looking back that was my biggest regret but i didnt know then what i know now :-) slowly life got better and my little boy with the designer genes has excelled in everything he does and has taught me so much. Alexander is still the wonderful child i had before just needs more help as he's got older and i feel very lucky to have them both.
My circle of friends has expanded and i have met some fantastic people though having my two very special boys, life now consists of lots of hospital appointments and Doctor/ Therapy appointments for them both but they are very worth it :-).
We have received advice and support from a few charities along the way and so now i want to give back so that others can benefit too.
So this is where i get really scared lol i have been growing my hair for ages and it is finally at a length that im really happy with but seeing as im too chicken to jump out of a plane or bungee jump i had to think outside the box.
I am going to do a sponsored head shave and anyone who knows me even remotely will know how much of a big deal this is for me i love my hair but ive decided to donate it to a charity that makes wigs for little girls with cancer and will raise money for follow your dreams, they have agreed to give a percentage of my choice to my chosen Down Syndrome Charity so your donations and my hair will actually make a difference to 3 very important charities :-)
Please give Generously ive never asked before and anyone could find theirselves in my position and have a special child like Lucus or Alexander, Down Syndrome doesn't discriminate and neither does Strokes in utero.
Follow your dreams helps make dreams come true for children with special needs like Lucus and Alexander, they recently gave us a break away to bluestone along with 19 other families. It was wonderful to see the smiles of the families they have helped including my own children.
Thank you all so much for all the support you my friends have given me and my family over the past 20 months im truly blessed to have you all in my life and id like to thank you all in advance for supporting this personal challenge i have set myself please make it worth me becoming Baldilocks for lol ;-P xxx
