We empower children through values to make safer choices in life

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am planing to undertake a solo cycle from Edinburgh to London over the August Bank Holiday weekend. I plan to depart from central Edinbugh on Friday 26th August and hope to arrive in London on Monday 29th August. My planned route is 429 miles so I will be averaging just over 100 miles per day. The route will tak me through the rolling hills of the borders stopping for my first night in Corbridge before dropping into Yorkshire the following day. I plan to stay over in York on the Saturday night. The following day (Sunday) is the longest, 126 miles taking me to Peterbourgh before the final day taking me through my home town of Bedford on my way to Central London and the finish line.

I am well on with my training schedule. I joined Sculpt-Fitness earlier in the year to improve my general fitness and stamina through 'spinning' twice a week. Since then, I have increased my training with the aid of Darren Garrett and his 1 2 1 personal training. This involves 2 vibrogym sessions per week and is proving a great help.

Of course, not forgetting about getting out on my bike and on the road. My first cycle of 45 miles was tough but since then, I am getting out whenever I can in the evenings to cover 20 - 30 miles and its now time to build on the longer training routes at the weekends.

The cycle itself is filling me full of both fear and motivation. The route is not an easy one and it mainly on main roads. 429 in 4 days will be tough. The thought of how my back & backside will feel when I get back on my bike on the Monday fills me with fear but I'm up for the challenge to support such a great cause.
