All proceeds from the "Kilner Shave Off" will be equally divided between the Neonatal Unit and Children's Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Please take a look at Amanda and Arley's story:
On Sunday 26 January 2014 Amanda Kilner will be shaving her hair off in a bid to raise money for the Neonatal Unit and Children’s Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Amanda’s son Arley-James Kilner was born in May 2013 and was 6 and half weeks premature. Arley was in the Neonatal unit in Doncaster for 10 weeks, spending a further 3 weeks in Leeds for a heart operation and 2 months in the Children’s Ward whilst he recovered. Arley spent a staggering 4 months and 1 day in hospital with Amanda staying by his side all the way through.
When asked why she decided to shave off her hair to raise money Amanda said “I just want to show people how strong I am after everything I have been through with my son, it has been such a roller coaster ride. The staff at the Neonatal unit at DRI were brilliant and helped my son so much. I want to say thank you by raising money to put towards the fantastic work they do.”
The “Shave Off” will be taking place at the Goldthorpe Reform in Goldthorpe on Sunday 26 January 2014. The event will run from 12 noon onwards. Not only will Amanda be shaving off her hair, there will also be a raffle with great prizes, a cake stall and live music.
