SPONSORED DOG WALK 2014 – PLEASE SUPPORT FINN, OUR LOVELY ‘MASCOT’ FOR THE DAY!

This year our Sponsored Dog Walk is on Sunday 28th September.  Registration is between 10am-12 midday, at Pylons car park on the Ashdown Forest.  The walk itself is almost 7 miles in total. All the money raised will help the dogs in our care at the Centre.

If you can’t come on the day, but would still like to offer your support, you may like to sponsor FINN who is our mascot for the day. Finn is a lovely, playful, affectionate Border Collie, who came into the centre following a plea from one of our volunteers. He was at a rescue kennels in Ireland, where she also volunteers and was involved in his rescue. He had strayed into a member of the public’s garden with a severely injured leg. Upon examination from a vet, Finn had a compound fracture of his humerus which was badly infected; the vet believed he had been involved in an RTA. The leg was pinned in surgery but due to the age of his injury he had repeat infections.  Unfortunately Border Collies are ‘two a penny’ in Ireland and it would have been very difficult to have found him a new home if he stayed there. But, we feel he now has a very good chance of finding his ideal home in the Sussex/Kent area! After a lot of TLC Finn is now recovering well and training for the walk.
