Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our dad Kuldeep Rehal's Just Giving page.

Our dad sadly lost his battle to cancer on 29th July.

The cancer that dad had when he went into hospital was Angiosarcoma which is very rare and very aggressive, but the battle was lost to a very aggressive poorly differentiated cancer, squamous cell carcinoma.

But despite this, he fought right up until the very end.

It has been a difficult journey for our dad and our family, but our dad is the glue that has kept us all stuck together, and that is how we will remain.

We have set up this page, so we can support  Professor Iain Hutchinson's charity.
Not only did he look after our dad, but he built a relationship with my dad, were they became friends over the years.

He also ensured us, as a family were kept up to date with our dad's progress, which gave us comfort in knowing dad was in the best hands.

Dads just giving page and Saving faces will be working closely together, so any money raised will be going to research on this particular group of patients to see how we can arrest the development of future tumours, like our dads.

We want to honour dads name, his strength and courage in adversity.

There isnt enough information about oral cancer in the public. Our faces are the one part of the body that cannot be hidden. Iain Hutchison
and his colleagues came to realise that very little research was being conducted into the treatment of facial diseases such as oral cancer and that many of the facial injuries they saw everyday could be prevented through education. There are now more than 40 facial surgeons throughout the United Kingdom collaborating with a team of nine talented Saving Faces researchers. Together they are carrying out groundbreaking work in areas such as the role of selective neck dissection in early oral cancer treatment, the psychological factors in head and neck and gastrointestinal cancer, the prevention of smoking and binge drinking amongst teenagers and the use of microcytoscopy to provide a non-invasive, in-vivo rapid detection tool for oral cancer.

Everyone who knew our dad, knew he was a caring, loving and happy man. Always there to help and guide everyone. That is how we always want him remembered.

Our dad would be proud of us that we have set this page to honour him and his memory will always live on
