Story
In September I will be on a flight to Phoenix, mentally preparing myself for a trek through one of the most beautiful and challenging landscapes in the world – the Grand Canyon!
At approximately 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide, I can assure you that there is definitely a reason behind my madness: St John’s Hospice.
In 2003, after my dad’s cancer wasdeemed terminal, it was a hospice that made his final weeksas comfortable and peaceful as possible. He was treated with the dignity and carehe deserved, offered both physical and spiritual support, and we, as a family, were given the best assistance with what was to come. I was young at the time, but not young enough to forget all of that.
St John's Hospice shows this care and support to more than 3,000 terminally-ill patients and their families every year…for free.
This iswhy I am taking part in this challenge and hoping to raise as much as possiblefor this amazing cause – for the team at St John’s Hospice to continueproviding this important service to patients and families going through one ofthe most difficult times of their lives.
To give you an idea of what yourdonation will mean:
£10 couldpay for a patient’s nutritionally balanced meal for a day
£25 couldpay for bereavement counselling for families
£50 couldpay for an hour of nursing at a patient’s home
Please help me support St John’sHospice by donating as much as you can. I need to raise £3,500 so please, please, pleaseeee helpme reach this by donating generously!
