We provide equipment to our NHS hospitals to make that early diagnosis, to save lives

Story

A Statement from Debbie Dowie

My name is Debbie Dowie and I decided to set up this new charity after I was diagnosed with breast cancer last August. I was one of the lucky ones, in that my cancer was discovered early and my prognosis was very good but I know that for some this is not the case.

I felt very fortunate that I had received such prompt care and attention but, the more I discussed my diagnosis and treatment, the more I became aware of just how many women receive this diagnosis each year. After discussion with my surgeon Professor Andrew Baildam he alerted me to the desperate need for the latest diagnostic equipment, so I decided to turn my experience with breast cancer into a positive one and Boot Out Breast Cancer was born.

I now have a team of 10 friends, 3 of whom have had breast cancer, and we are all determined to make a difference. Each of us is committed to fundraising and to making sure that every penny raised is spent on some much needed equipment in the NHS. Our aim is to provide equipment for as many breast cancer units in the North West as possible.
