Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. With my Sister and Father (a master mariner), I am cycling 200 miles from London to Paris over four days. This will no doubt be tough for me and will push me to my limits at times!

As well as the personal challenge we are doing this to raise much needed funds for the Shipwrecked Mariner's Society. This Society provides grants to retired or disabled seafarers and their widows.

From the Society's website:

  • An 81-year-old former fisherman with 44 years at sea and his wife had been living on microwaved meals as their cooker had broken some time ago and their television had been loaned to them. We purchased a cooker and TV for them and given their meagre income we took them on as regular beneficiaries. This should ensure that they do not get into similar circumstances again.
