Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Lucinda Skepper and I am 17 years old. I am a young leader at 1st Partridge Green Brownies and 1st Partridge Green Guides and Rangers unit. I have been in the Girl Guiding movement for 12 years after I joined the Rainbows. Over the years I have progressed from Rainbows up to Brownies, Guides and Senior section. Being part of Senior section has been the best part of my guiding career because it has allowed me as a young leader to give back to other children in Guiding all that has been given to me. As part of being a young leader, it has allowed me to grow as a person and is a key fundamental part of my life.
I have been selected by LaSER Girl guiding to participate in an amazing service project in Busan, South Korea with Concordia, a caring charity dedicated to facilitating volunteer projects around the world in less fortunate areas. In Busan we will be taking part in projects that involve urban rejuvenation. Part of the challenge is to fund the trip ourselves which is £3,000.
When in South Korea, we will learn a number of skills which will be significantly helpful later in life such as: people skills, communication in a foreign language, the ability to work long hours under difficult conditions for instance weather, as well as many others. we are also planning to spend time with South Korean girl scouts, which I think will be life changing as it would provide us with experience of guiding in another country as well as their culture and traditions both of which I have little to no experience with.Personally I feel that what I will gain from this experience is invaluable and I'm looking forward to bringing those skills back and using them in all that I do, especially my unit and passing onto others what I have been lucky enough to learn.
