I have just lost my step-mum to pancreatic cancer and feel I want to do something about it!

Mainly shout and ...raise awareness so that someone else can be diagnosed that little bit sooner...instead of when everything else has been ruled out, and it is usually too late. 

I am all the more aware of the importance of research that I work myself for a research and charitable organisation. My place of work, The North West Lung Research Centre,  has been so supportive during these last few months that I would like to publicly thank them by rowing and raising funds for them - they do an incredible job as a tertiary referral centre in the North West, fund my research in severe asthma and need your support.

I will be attempting to row the marathon distance trying to break the individual British record which currently stands at 3 hours 5 minutes and 51 seconds!

Rick Egington, Warrington first ever olympian and silver and bronze medallist in the GB 8+ in Beijing and London, has agreed to support this attempt!

The junior rowing squad that I coach in my spare time have been as brilliant as I knew they would be. The kids will be rowing alongside me for Pancreatic Cancer UK, attempting to establish FOUR British records by rowing a marathon as relay teams.

Both charities do an incredible job and need money to help advance research that translate into patient improved care.

The North West Lung Centre is the major referral centre for respiratory disease in the North West.

The Centre specialises in all aspects of respiratory diseases:      

Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease,      

Asthma,                      

Cystic Fibrosis,              

Lung Transplantation,     

Allergy,                

Lung Cancer,                    

Occupational Lung Disease.                        

  The Research Centre is financially supported by the North West Lung Centre Charity. A wide range of research projects have been undertaken by the Research Centre over the past 10 years including the study of risk factors for the development of asthma and allergies (1000 children followed up from birth to 15 years old),  the evaluation of various treatment regimes in the management of lung cancer,  epidemiological studies of asthma and chronic bronchitis in the community, studies of lung disease in the industry and the mechanisms and management of  sleep disorders, cystic fibrosis and lung transplant rejection. 

Apres avoir perdu ma belle-mere d'un cancer du pancreas, je voudrai maintenant soutenir la recherche contre ce tueur et permettre a d'autres personnes d'etre diagnostiquees avant que tout autre cause ait ete eliminee, et qu'il ne soit trop tard, comme c'est souvent le cas.

 Je travaille moi-meme dans la recherche et sais combien les donations font toute la difference. Pour remercier publiquement mon equipe professionnelle qui m'a ete d'un support absolu, je m'apprete a ramer la distance d'un marathon sur une machine a ramer (un ergo) et a battre le record britannique pour mon age, actuellement de 3 heures, 5minutes et 51 secondes. Les dons que je recevrai iront au centre de recherche du Nord Ouest de l'Angleterre contre les maladies respiratoires.

Les jeunes que j'entraine a l'aviron pendant mes heures libres m'apporteront rameront a cote de moi ainsi qu'Alix et Mathilde qui prendront part a ce challenge egalement.

Tous ensemble, ils etablieront quatre records britanniques du marathon par equipe. Leurs dons seront reverses a Pancreatic Cancer UK, a la memoire de Lysiane.
