Story
The Maria Falco Memorial Trust is a breast cancer charity which raises funds for our local hospitals, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow and St Margaret's Hospital, Epping.Maria Falco died in November 2005 after battling breast cancer for three years. She began fundraising whilst undergoing her own treatment and was keen that all women should have the best available treatment and aftercare on the NHS. She raised awareness in our local areas by holding events. As a result of her efforts the breast unit is involved with several ground-breaking clinical trials in collaboration with many of the top global pharmaceutical companies.
The charity's aim is to continue fundraising so that more clinical trials can be taken on by the hospitals which are at the forefront of the latest treatments available in the UK. Charitable donations fund the research nurses and the equipment needed to conduct these clinical trials. Future aims are to provide respite during and after gruelling treatments for patients and their families.
